I want to give myself a pat on the back.
Two years ago right at the end of Spring 2012 I dropped out of college after choosing to not take out loans to continue my education. I moved back home without the slightest idea of what I wanted to do. I began applying for work but quickly lost interest when local employers did not call me back and I did not have a car for long commutes. Not to mention I had developed Epilepsy (seizures) that made me desperate for finding an alternative to the 9-5 job.
I became obsessed with the idea of creating income from home, but how? What skills did I have? I began asking around, doing research and giving thought about the kind of service I could offer to help others. I also thought about my future: where I wanted to live and how I wanted to live. I began by offering volunteer service to a small online editorial and promoting myself as a virtual intern. As time went on, slowly but surely, I began to find my way and it has been such a journey!
I am now planning to move out of my parents’ house and am buying a car. I feel so accomplished to say I have made it here through my efforts and the help of others. I want to thank my parents for being patient and supportive as I took time to develop my skills and business. They did not hold rent over my head or pressure me to work and now I feel like the sky is the limit as I develop my clientele and relationships with others.
