For years I have defined Lady Gaga as the Promotional Wizardress because of her amazing strategies of reaching out to fans (of course her marketing team is behind it too!). On a side note I have been a little monster since “Just Dance” debuted in 2008 and have kept an eye on her projects ever since.
So what can we take note of about Gaga’s outreach methods to connect with our personal projects? Here we go…
#1. She always thanks her fans
My point: Saying thank you goes a long way.
#2. She publishes raw content
My point: Put content out there that lets people see more of YOU.
#3. She is real and consistent
My point: Be authentic and stick with a sole purpose.
#4. She has promoted common products and platforms
earphones by Dre Beats which were featured in her “Bad Romance” video. Now whenever I see Dre Beats I think of Gaga which is really amazing because they have nothing to do with her directly yet quickly spark my memory of “Bad Romance.” The music video to her song “Telephone” featuring Beyonce is also distinctly memorable as common products such as Miracle Whip and dating site Plenty of Fish were featured. I have to admit the product promotion in “Telephone” was annoying yet I now associate these products with Gaga!
Not to mention she did that interesting stint with Farmville on Facebook for a limited time. I am not a Farmville participant by any means but I did log in just to see Gaga’s awesome themed game.
My point: Cross promote with other entities that compliment you.
#5. She has made unique publicity moves
My point: Think of unique methods of promotion.
Those are top of my Gaga promotion list right now. Gaga has always been an impressive musician in my eyes not strictly for her music but also her bold approach in reaching out to her fans. Her promotional strategy can be used by anyone.
